Many organizations in the Mining and Construction industries including public and private are collapsing due to the fact that, their procurement and supply chain departments are not well organized and effectively managed. As a result, millions of cedis and dollars are lost every year through this department thereby putting the company’s capital into bankruptcy. It is expected to  source for the right quantity and quality of goods and services from the right place at the right time with right negotiated price to achieve total cost of ownership (TCO) but most of these departments employees lack the strategic managerial  and decision making skills. Again not trustworthy and  reliable to manage operations effectively and efficiently to achieve the expected results hence the need to fill the gap.

It is estimated that about 65% of considerable organizations operations costs is being managed by the Procurement and supply chain department. Obviously, a department or unit of this sort has a significant impact on shareholders’ value.
